One of the things I wanted to start doing this year was to highlight a few local businesses on my blog, so that I could expand my commercial portfolio and hopefully help out these small businesses in the process by giving them a little bit of extra publicity and some professional photos that they can use on their website and social media.  So,  a couple of weeks ago I went along to Juice and Cleanse in Stapleford, Nottingham, to meet Nicola Cole and shoot a few pictures of her fabulous shop and products, and (with a bit of arm twisting) a few shots of Nicola herself.

Juice & Cleanse produce freshly squeezed fruit and vegetable juices for use as detox cleanses.  You can buy them in packages to be consumed over a varying number of days, or you can just call into the shop for a refreshing drink!  They also offer delivery to your home or place of work.

I wanted to get to know a bit more about Nicola and Juice & Cleanse, so I sent a few interview questions to her so she could tell me all about it.  If you go and take a look at her website you’ll see that it’s very comprehensive so I actually had a bit of a problem trying to find questions to ask that hadn’t already been answered!  So in Nicola’s words, here is a little bit more about Juice & Cleanse:

Do you regularly detox?  Which are your favourite juices?

I consume fresh juices every day as part of my regular diet and I try to cleanse every 2-3 months.  My favourite of the juice packages has to be the Mighty Green.  I love the green vegetable juices as they are so good for you.  My favourite juice is made of pear, courgette and fennel – these ingredients go really well together.

What kind of people are you finding are interested in juicing?

I can’t put my finger on this as we have such a broad range of customers, I have ladies in their late 50s that cleanse, I have men in their 20s.  I think people are becoming more aware of the health benefits associated with juicing nowadays.  I get quite a lot of people who want to try and live a healthier lifestyle but don’t have the time to make their own juices at home.

Unfortunately in Nottingham we don’t have many places that sell fresh raw food that hasn’t been pasteurised or been contaminated with additives and preservatives that spoil that natural nutrient content of food and drinks.  Most of our streets are filled with unhealthy take-away food shops and I really think it is time to change.

What sort of health benefits could people notice from juicing?

Here are just a few of the health benefits associated with Juicing:

  • As you will be flooding your body with nutrients you may notice an increase in energy levels
  • Clearer skin
  • Reduced Bloating & inflammation
  • You will be boosting your immune system
  • Better sleep habits
  • After cutting out the caffeine, sugars, fats and processed food for a few days you will notice an improved attitude to food
  • Weight loss (although this should not be the main objective of a juice cleanse it is a welcome side effect for most people).

Please do go and visit the Juice & Cleanse website as you’ll find loads more information there, including why Nicola started the business, and about all the different types of juices and packages.  There’s a one day detox package that you can use as a trial, and there’s even one for brides-to-be!

And lastly, here are some of the photos from the shoot:
