Food photography – My simple bruschetta

One of my personal projects this year was supposed to be doing some food photography, but it hasn’t happened all that much because of this, that and the other….but finally last weekend I got around to actually making something simple in the kitchen and photographing the different stages.  It’s just a simple bruschetta but an easy peasy recipe and it was delicious!

I used fresh basil and some gorgeous tomatoes on the vine…

Chop the tomatoes into small chunks…

And chop the basil.  You’ll need about a tablespoonful, probably about 12-15 leaves…

Add them both to your bowl….

Add a tablespoonful of balsamic vinegar, the same of olive oil (I suppose the extra virgin sort would be best but this was all I had!), and salt and pepper to taste…

And mix it all together.  :)

I used one of those part baked ciabatta loaves and it was lush!

It was delicious.  Next time though I’ll add onion and maybe a bit of garlic.  You can serve it from the fridge or at room temperature, whichever you prefer, but one thing I have found is that it does actually taste even better the next day when all the flavours have had time to mix.

 

And then I noticed these….did anyone else’s dad used to throw these at them, pretending they were spiders?!
